A study was carried out to establish a detection method for Chinese sesame and perilla seeds and Sudanese sesame seed treated with ionizing radiation through thermoluminescence (TL) measurement. TL intensities of the first glow curves for irradiated samples increased with increasing irradiation dose with very high correlation coefficient between the irradiation dose and TL intensity. The glow curve ratios G I (G1) of unirradiated samples were below 0.05, while glow curve ratios of G II (G2, G3, G4) of irradiated samples were above 0.5 in several ratios, thus making it possible to distinguish the unirradiated and irradiated samples. Based on the maximum temperatures of the TL peak and shapes of the second glow curves appeared in lower temperature region than those of the first glow curves, Chinese sesame and perilla seeds and Sudanese sesame seeds treated with ionizing radiation could be correctly discriminated from the unirradiated samples through TL measurements.
